Yoga Classes, Workshops, and Private Lessons
I received my 500-hour yoga certification through Mary Wolters at the Living Yoga Center in Champaign/Urbana, Illinois, Moksha Yoga in Chicago and My Vinyasa Practice. I integrate concepts from dance, Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga Yoga to create open spaces for transformative experiences.
CLASSES
My yoga classes are rigorously constructed, emphasizing efficient alignment, movement flow, joy, and a deep investigation of the interconnections between the body and spirituality. Classes offer a springboard for in-depth internal explorations of concepts such as gravity and lightness, stability and ease, weight and flow, or love and limitations.
WORKSHOPS
Harnessing the Vayus (Winds) explores the inner vayus (earth, fire, water, air, ether) developing the abilities to channel these forces through the yoga practice. Workshop participants will playfully explore the movement qualities of the vayus and apply them to specific asanas.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Drawing on my extensive background in dance, anatomy, and kinesiology, private lessons consist of individualized explorations, and the development of a personalized yoga practice adapted to the unique needs of each body and spirit. With close attention to alignment and joy, I will guide you toward a more healthy and complete practice.
FREE YOGA CLASSES FOR THE PANDEMIC
The following 15 classes were designed specifically for the pandemic. The classes are best experienced in the sequence 1-15. Previous yoga experience would be preferred. Please listen to your body and always modify to suit your needs.
Jan's Yoga teaching is excellent, above and beyond other Yoga teachers I had. She brings to her teaching a thorough knowledge of human anatomy and her intimate first-hand and professional understanding of human movement as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. The precision and clarity of her explanations and the insight and individual feedback on how to stretch ourselves (both literally and figuratively!) is invaluable. Each class had an underlying theme or focus, which has expanded my awareness, which I carry outside the Yoga mat. Jan's attention to both details and big picture, and her responsiveness to our individual needs and activities (in my case, swimming) is remarkable.
