Voice on the Page – How to write the Quintessential Artist/Teaching/Research Statements

Artistic/teaching/research statements based in abstract thinking such as images, sound, spatial/temporal concepts and embodied experiences often fall flat when placed into the linear patterns inhabited by words and language.  VOICE ON THE PAGE is a workshop which translates the soul of our research/art-making into a PRINTED, ARTICULATE & MOVING STATEMENT, so others can understand Why We Do What We Do!

In this workshop we:  play games, make things and describe what we see/ experience;  write autobiographies of our research and embodied journeys;  study writing practices; laugh, write, discuss, make & make again, until writings emerge that share the stories, culture and beliefs of the maker. When given the right tools, CREATIVE RESEARCHERS CAN BE EXTRAORDINARY WRITERS

This workshop is for ARTISTS in the PROFESSIONAL field and/or GRADUATE students and/or FACULTY in ACADEMIA who are / or will be, seeking FUNDING, JOBS, PROMOTION AND TENURE.
